Every Little Girl comes to life...

Sean and I have been hard at work building our new small business called Every Little Girl. Recently I heard the American journalist Nicholas D. Kristof and his wife Sheryl WuDunn talk about their book called "Half the Sky". They witness stories of girls over the developing world who struggle with issues of poverty in their young lives. Girls are less likely to be immunised or to go to school but sadly more be likely to be exploited. The Girl Effect, n, campaigns that CHANGE IN THE WORLD STARTS WITH A GIRL. Powerful social and economic change is brought about in the world when girls have an opportunity to participate.

Being a mum to 2 little girls I dream that every little girl can be safe, free to go to school and to have access to healthcare to help them thrive and grow. Since becoming a mum this strong gathering urge has devloped in me and I have become addicted to online shopping and selling. The conveniance of being able to shop late at night or in the comfort of my pyjamas is a winner for me. It also means I can search all over the world for the best deals and the best quality items.

Many people are becoming more conscious of the impact globally of our everyday choices. This is why we have chosen to focus on fair trade and eco fashion and toys for little girls. Fair trade guarantees a better deal for thirld world producers. Most importantly 10% of our profits will go to projects that enable little girls (and in some cases their mums) in developing countries access to healthcare, education and protection.

We are very excited about this. It is already bringing us great joy to focus on something worthwhile. We will be ready to launch in October. More news soon!
